San Gimignano, a UNESCO world heritage site, is an ancient and characteristic medieval village. Beyond its works of arts, this little historical centre is famous for the incomparable wine produced here, the Vernaccia (DOCG), wine known and appreciated all over the world. It was the first Italian wine to have received the “Denominazione di Origine Controllata” (DOC) quality trade mark in 1996.
